pretty cool right?

fun transliteration fact: in arabic, there is no real letter equivalent to "ey" or "g", so the text actually reads "seeja." (and remember, arabic reads from right to left!) it's a bit of a mystery to me, as well as other arabic speakers, why the logo uses ج -- "j" -- instead of using غ, which is pronounced like "gh". غ is actually closer to the sound of "g", and is usually the one used in transliteration for "g"s like in "Sega". this is especially mysterious because while north african arabic dialects, such as egyptian arabic, can pronounce "ج" as "g", this logo was supposedly designed in saudi arabia, where that isn't common. who knows!

after i discovered this logo, i couldn't help but start drawing it wherever i could, especially in my art that takes place in the OVA canon, wherein earth is abandoned and what used to be cities are only populated by grown-over ruins of skyscrapers, traffic signs, and other human technology that has been lost to time. the logo seems to have been discontinued sometime in the mid-90's; it's such an awesome design, and i hope we see it used officially again one day!
