hi! this is completely random and i'm actually in the process of getting off this plan (probablyin the next 3 months or so), but i have an old unlimited family plan (w/ 24gb hotspot) that has 2 extra lines that are currently unused. it would cost me nothing to add you and provide a little bit of stability in the short term while you find a better deal/more permanent solution. totally understand if the answer is no (tbh this offer is sus) but wanted to offer it as i've actually had a few friends rotate through it when they needed it.

When I switched off the family plan to an individual one I did some carrier hopping and found the following MVNOs:

  • Google Fi: $26, Bit more of an expensive plan, has the chance to go to the Google Graveyard at any point. Service-wise I had issues with Google's own phones on it.
  • Ting: $17, It works, I wasn't using that much data so I wanted something I could refine more.
  • Tello: variable, can be $9-$12 if you don't use much data. Service hasn't given me any issues when not using 5G. If you want to change your plan mid-month then it will restart the plan that day and nothing rolls over.
  • Mint Mobile: they're running a promotion to make it $15 a month for 4GB of data for now, but I'm unsure of how long that will last.

this was super useful! thanks as well to @micolithe @wave @invis, verizon wound up just straight up rejecting me and cancelling my order because my credit history is fucked (i do not have and have never had a credit card), but ting is sending me a SIM card within the next few days. very pleased to be spending less than half of what i thought i would have to.
