dont get me wrong i really like it that we do but why do we as humans feel the need to disturb the quiet of winter with raucous energy and light and music? all the creatures hibernate and hunts come to a close, rain turning to the quiet piling of snow and all the colour of the world blanketed in a thick layer of fog and cloud its like its telling us "its time to rest now, you've made it through the year, its cold, its dark, go be warm in your home"
but i mean even before capitalism we partied! we did winter solstice and stuff and we drank a lot! maybe we are just very very active creatures and we just get bored? i know like as humans our sleep cycle used to be naturally broken like we rest for like 3 hours, wake up for a bit, fuck, read, paint, then go back to bed for another 4 or somethin. i feel like thats kind of emblematic of this right like we dont want to rest for such a long dark period we wanna do something big and fun and full of love and live right in the middle of it. why is that?
