Just a stonesthrow away from the warehouse it originally came from in 1985, I'm proudly tinkering with one of Alan Sugar's machines that brought cheap IBM clones to the UK with gusto.

While Lord Shug is almost certainly a bit of a dick, his shady business deals arguably kickstarted the UK's home computer revolution by making these dual-floppy machines so affordable and so compatible.

Hello there cohost! taps mic Is this thing on?

My name is Kestral and I'm a queer, neurodiverse writer, activist, and educator, currently living in the United Kingdom (which is neither united or, realistically, that much of a kingdom). My passions are social change, equity, technology, and food.

I'm a part-time digital preservationist, lecturer in digital ethics, and tech team lead. You can follow me on the fediverse, instagram, or on the hell that is the birdsite. Various things I've worked on can be found on my website, though it's not super up-to-date right now.

Please do say hi! I'm nice, I think.
