I randomly stumbled upon a heard of antelope in the salt desert. I talked to the leader and managed to convince her to be my friend and join me. and now I have a huge herd of antelope following me around

Caves of Qud is so good that I actually feel like it's a bad idea to play it in the permadeath rogue-like mode. I'd rather play it like Castle of the Winds, a longer-form RPG sorta thing!
ive never heard of castle of the winds o:
but yeah same, even before they introduced the roleplay mode with quicksaving and checkpoints i would do the alt+f4 exploit every time i died in permadeath mode LOL
man, I played the hell out of Castle of the Winds as a kid. Win3.1-era dungeon crawler, so all the graphics were windows icons for tiles and bitmaps for anything bigger!

Did you play CotW I and II both? (Also damn if this isn't a throwback for me.)
oh bud I've beaten it all the way through multiple times, I fuckin' love Castle of the Winds. I even got it running natively in Win10, not even wrapped in DOSbox!!
Oh, nice. I lost my copies years ago due to HDD failures, but I definitely played through them. It was kind of wild how much more fun they were than a bunch of the more polished games of the same era, y'know?
