i usually avoid the meta on this website but it is so interesting watching oblique discussion happen about "short posts" and whether you should put things in the title. at the beginning that seemed to be the obvious use case to me, since staff presumably did not give titles the 140 character limit by accident, with a larger text size so it might fit smoothly into a more image-heavy mobile scroll
i've dropped off using title-only posts mainly because i am reveling in having a longer place to talk (see: present moment) but if you dig back far enough in the #lutzpost tag where i self curate you can see how at the beginning i was using the different affordances of the cohost composition field to experiment with various posting tones and formulae, as well as just doing twitter-style jokes mainly centered around the title field
and now i see the meta-discussion turn around to what people "should" be doing, or what they feel like they might get in trouble for doing--I get the sense some folks think short title-field posts is inappropriate??--and it really just hammers home that social media are places where we, uh, well, we socially mediate protocols of interpersonal discipline. or as i said it before in a joke (in the post body, because it was long, but also because the smaller text size communicated better the tone of 'muttered complaint' i was aiming for):
