Today I'm reviewing a raspberry-filled dark chocolate bar from San Franciso-born chocolatier Gharardelli. Despite being labeled as "dark", the chocolate in this bar very sweet. I think it would be more accurate to call it a semi-sweet chocolate: it's nice and sugary but still has a big punch of strong cocoa flavor. The chocolate would probably be too sweet on its own, but it is nicely counter-balanced by the amazing raspberry filling. This filling has a smooth jam-like consistency and an intense bright berry tartness. The tart of the raspberry melds incredibly well with the sweetness of the chocolate, making for a very pleasant tasting experience.
Not gonna lie, this is one of my favorite "mid-tier" chocolate bars and one of my go-to chocolatey treats. I'm already a sucker for the combo of chocolate and berry, and this bar pulls that off pretty dang well. My only warning is that the chocolate in the bar might be too sweet for some, but if that's not a problem for you, be sure to try it out!
