i was goin through this guys post history on the hardocp forums trying to catch the vibes on some early 2000s computer bullshit and he had this post that was just "hey anyone see the new gateway pc, it looks almost like an imac, i think it's neat" with zero replies. and i was so fucking curious what the fuck that could be, because there's only ever been a single PC that looked "like an imac", it was the eMachines eOne, they got sued, and nobody ever tried again. I was sure he was overstating it, so i went and looked up the computer and it looked like this

you know, i can almost see it

like clearly they are different things but "all in one desktop pc built into a flat panel screen" was an uncommon enough departure from the tower design that i can see how you'd make that connection

It's especially funny when you remember this was called the Gateway One and came after Gateway had acquired eMachines. It does look a lot more like the 20th Anniversary Mac though.

There was another PC that tried to rip the look of the G3 iMac too, the Daewoo ePower PC which was actually more shameless than the eOne and also got sued over it. I think LGR also mentioned when he covered the Gateway Astro a while back that that looked a bit like the Macintosh Colour Classic/Molar Mac. The All-in-One revival that the iMac caused was wild.
