it is an apparent truth of canadian politics that liberal voters are unambitious and more interested in the aesthetics of the values the liberal party professes to support than anything actually actionable. they don't actually want anything to change, but they want nothing to change with a more progressive looking coat of paint on their politics than the conservatives1
seemingly any time they're disappointed or disillusioned with the liberal party, rather than looking at literally anyone else2, they will just fall in line with the conservatives because nothing actually matters and it's just a fucking image game
-
do not mistake this for equivalence, though. the liberals are unambitious and will never change anything until it's already so safety mainstream that no risk is taken, but the conservatives are actively malicious

im not going to say the NDP will solve all of our problems and don't make bad decisions but on balance, they're the ones talking about dental care coverage and pharmacare, they have a significant enough mainstream presence to show up in provincial and national polls, and THEY ARE NOT THE CPC so i would take that fucking win if we got it, y'know?
