this is for the homestucks or ppl who really miss swf files
i owe my entire life to this tutorial for letting me do animations inside iframes (one of which i have posted here in cohost already!) because im kinda too stingy to use ruffle sometimes
anyways just a few notes about this html5 canvas method which are:
- if you use the adobe animate camera, stuff just does not work.
i have no fucking idea why this happens, but the second you press the camera tool and make a camera layer stuff just refuses to work scriptingwise, if you're not using any scripts then by all means go ahead but if you do use scripts (i.e. the play button and rewind button scripts from the tutorial i linked) they just won't work? maybe there's a workaround but the easier solution is to not use cameras which is a pain tbh
i wonder if actionscript cameras from like the adobe flash cs6 days still work, i never got around to testing that tbh - audio fuckery
ok so basically you have to have clicked on the web page once for audio to start by default which is why its recommended for you to have a start button. i do not add a start button because most hs flashes (which is what i usually emulate in animate) did not have a start button, barring cascade i think.
i think you can change your browser settings so audio and video are able to autoplay instead of just video (or maybe i'm thinking of something else not sure don't wanna test it out) but that's something you have to note
overall im just happy i still get to make homestuck-like flashes and have them not be inside a youtube video, i haven't done a major one yet and by that i mean anything that isn't just test flashes for fun, but i still like to be able to view them kinda like how you could view swf files before adobe killed flash
and if you don't like the issues that come with it just use ruffle or something lmao
actually i wonder if i can embed a ruffle thing in cohost using iframes or something if i can im going to post a random hs flash lmao
