the "safely eject your USB drive" thing? hasn't been needed since at least windows 7.

because they chose the worse "option" as a default, and write caching needs to be explicitly enabled on them if you want the best performance (but having to eject)

and the reason they chose the worse option is that's what mattered for the users they were seeking. I'm sure there's other reasons too, but like, data loss on USB drive removal seems pretty big when people Dont Know About Computers Much

I think its probably worth learning from, in a lot of spaces.
