I did not notice that I'd missed a huge chunk of no man's sky content. Apparently each major update came with an "expedition": a special mission that you run side by side with your main save file. And you get special rewards from it and stuff. They run for a limited time so I've missed every one of them. I had no idea!!
Anyway, the "liquidator" expedition is currently running and goes for about 6 weeks, so I'm gonna try it
This is the one thing that I am willing to nitpick furiously about NMS: I loathe FOMO events.
They might rerun all of this year's expeditions at the end of the year, in the middle of the holidays when people aren't necessarily at their gaming computers, in a condensed speedrun format.
I am with you on this. So many of them sound cool and interesting, I wish I could check them out. I will keep an eye out, yeah
if you're curious, dataminers have found stuff that suggests that old expeditions may be made replayable from the expedition terminal on the space anomaly. certainly some of the functionality is there.
there's also this method if you're on PC, but i've not tested it so ymmv
