my team (xbox console) is hiring, which does not happen often. people on my team tend to like working there enough that they stay mostly forever. yes, microsoft has a lot of AI junk that I frankly don't like. also microsoft makes boneheaded decisions sometimes, as befits gigantic companies. it is decidedly a gigantic company with the problems that come with that. but also i really like the stuff i work on. it's low level c and c++ systems programming, firmware, library design, and drivers. and a ridiculously large amount of people in this world are running code that i wrote. the impact is absurd.
