i really cant wait for AI to become boring again
when people ask me what i do and i start explaining the ML models i make and work with and do research on, i want them to just fully fkin switch off mentally like they used to, rather than jump to one of two camps: im the literal devil incarnate or "omg you must work with chatgpt and stable diffusion and stuff do you wanna rub our nfts together*?"
bruh i train highly domain specific ner models to extract names from old newspaper OCR. i work with essentially a pile of linear algebra. im not a fuckass loser who thinks trying to control a generative model's hallucinations warrants being called pRoMpT eNgInEeRiNg
