- markdown specifically says that you can make an "ordered list" by starting a ~list~ with numbers. three lines with "8.", "1.", and "3." are syntactically valid and will produce a list with 1, 2, and 3
- discord helpfully decides that any line in the form of "number, period, space, text" is an ordered list, and will treat the number as the first number of the list, unless it's over 50, in which case it's capped at 50
- two different pieces of shitty technology combining and turning into a bigger, shittier mess

- edit: the above list is generated with the numbers "1.", "420.", "69.", because markdown is good like that
jesus. i know (and loathe) the first markdown behaviour but that discord thing is... baffling
according to a comment below you used to be able to do this with "0." too (which now gets bumped up to 1). no fun allowed

I really hate this modern trend of changing what the user wrote because you think you know better than the user
I sometimes index pages with a page 0 and page 00 in my manga translations. my work processor "helpfully" changes 00 to 0. I have no idea how to turn this feature off.
autocomplete does this to me in code editors, too, and of course the common binds that it defaults to are normal hotkeys like tab or enter
