Maaaaan it is super obnoxious when you're watching a streamer try to play a game blind and someone in chat wants to make it really apparent that they know what's coming up, but they'll only vaguepost and dance around it like "oh here we go its time" or "this is it chat" when there's no indication in-game that something big is going to happen yet. Let the streamer cook! I know you're excited about the thing that's about to happen but you don't need to give them advance warning when a thing is going to happen!
It's frustrating cause I wanna call these people out and tell em to stop, but at the same time it calls more attention towards what they are trying to hint at which can worsen the situation! Just enjoy the journey, don't try and grab the wheel yourself!
not that i stream all THAT much but ive had this happen a few times and more than half the time i don't want to give it attention specifically because i hate also risking calling out the kind of person who's doing it specifically to get a rise and then they suddenly become the main character troll of the chat until me or one of my friends bans them
people love ignoring 'no backseating' to the nth degree
we must make the social cost of backseat gaming on twitch incredibly high. we should make people terrified to do it.
i'm never going to forget when i was playing banjo-goddamn-tooie for the first time on stream trying to figure out how to get into grunty industries and despite repeatedly saying to please let me figure it out someone couldn't help but tell me the answer
this would have been a pretty run of the mill occurrence, but after i timed them out and ended stream, they went into the chat of the person i raided and complained about me overreacting. absolute clown shoes (said streamer, who dislikes backseating more than me, was less than sympathetic)
usually i'm pretty understanding of backseating and i get that its because people really like a game and are into what you're doing (which is good!) but man this particular streaming incident haunts me lmfao
If a streamer (or, really, anyone) asks you not to backseat, don't fucking backseat.
That goes double if they took the time to put it in their rules for chat, or otherwise made it clear beforehand. And if you don't like backseating, don't backseat others. (I swear to the stars that some of the worst offenders are people who gets extremely upset if it's done to them.)
i love seeing people get excited about something in my stream that is coming up but by dragons, chat, please ask me if you're gonna talk about specifics or how to do a thing you're excited for because i am only half the time in the mood to be ok with someone backseating me and even then usually only if i ask for help
