GOD, I've never seen this before and this is such an interesting transitional artifact. All the interest/money was pivoting to thr web in the late 90s, but it still wasn't able to reproduce the high-end multimedia experience you could get from a good CD-ROM. And then you have this, which is technically a website but also a multimedia CD.
It reminds me of those hybrid Laserdiscs you would control using a Macintosh Hypercard stack. Like they're admitting, this new format doesn't quite do everything the old one did yet, so we're gonna glue them together for now.
I believe this is also the only one of these that Sierra did, either because sales were bad (my family only had it because of a massive mail in rebate) or because of Sierra imploding the next year, so it never even progressed further than this
