tbh i am gonna scream and shit myself if cohost goes under

imo social media & tech at large desperately needs it to exist and work to prove there's a market for sustainable tech operations and not just VC chop shops.

if it doesn't, we're just going to see the internet get shittier and shittier from a people-meeting perspective with the only course changing option to be regressing ourselves to specifically interconnected places like neocities, email, and rss feeds, which is a great way to alienate like 95% of potential people you would otherwise want to vibe with.

the world needs more places that don't force you into a model of infinite usage growth!!!! the world needs more places that aren't dedicated to tricking you into giving them money and power over you!!!! we need places that care less about numbers & reach and more about day-to-day experiences, ones that give its users a sense of intentionality and purpose and not just "it's what everyone else uses" to keep you seeking social dopamine

i sincerely do not believe it will go under proper, but also i worry about its future if the creators are forced to push it into a side gig. i wish the best to the devs and i hope we start to see people realize just how important their $5 is when using the site.
