we self-host our own email with a FreeBSD machine and have the mail jail restricted to 60 gigs of space total.
$ df -h Maildir
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
pool/jails/spigot 60G 51G 9.0G 85% /
When this approaches capacity we can log into the main machine and go zfs set pool/jails/spigot refreservation=80G and have more space.
