this is solvable UX problem

markdown images support alt text by default! However, for the (main?) image, the description field should always show up, instead of only on hover.

you're not wrong, but the site UI's awful implementation of the description box, then the hovering on top of THAT, shows what a low priority it is for them

something that I also forgot to mention, is implementing an optional alt text reminder / gate
