  • players working together to pull off successful combinations of their unique skills thru switches.
  • players bickering over each other's bad habits, the ways they are "always doing this with our body ugh, you know I have to live here too!!"
  • moments of delightful teamwork among a tight knit family
  • moments of delightful ineptitude among a group of people with resources spread just a little too thin

im not really a ttrpg designer, in fact we are WAY TOO adhd to even scrape together the spoons to PLAY them ourselves, let alone develop one. so if someone hears this and goes "oh holy shit i wanna make that", be my guest! do it!! free idea!! i probably wont do anything with this myself, im too busy with other stuff!! also if you think of a better name you should probably call it that.

the original conception of this, as infodumped into a dm excitedly at our friend, was that there would be some kind of corru observer style weird sci fi internet of shared thoughtspace, minds connected together as well as to computer systems, called the Inside, and it would be like a lasers and feelings hack where the Inside score of a headmate means better at solving problems thru thoughtspace hacking, "on the Inside", and Outside means better at solving problems thru physspace action or social engineering, "on the Outside". perhaps combine that with tokens, possibly aquired thru no dice no masters style "weak moves" that can be spent by a headmate to switch in.

but again, not a designer. maybe a l&f hack would not be the best option for my desires for lighthearted plural sci-fi shenanigans, or maybe just in general! i think no dice no masters might also be a really good fit for this concept.

honestly i think you could take the concept of a ttrpg where all the players share the same body in a LOT of different directions, to both less lighthearted/more serious places, to fantastical places, to weird and experimental places, to fun places and dark places, to slice of life places. (and we'd be honestly surprised if it HASNT been done before by some cool indie ttrpg artist)

but personally i just REALLY want to argue with my friends in our headspace over how we should best use our body to get out of a sticky situation while some clueless singlet is just standing there watching our body just stand blankly for slightly too long

@kouhai

but doesn't mechanically differentiate between players. everyone just acts similarly – the same AI, just at different times

this would make that combat system more fun, though!

it's even canon-compliant! (AIs can form gestalts, though this is usually for fleet coordination / (grand) strategy funtimes)

in reply to @spiders's post:

There exist games where each player share one body: There is a game called Neocortext (that I cannot find anywhere on the web anymore but I know it exist because I have donwloaded a copy of it) which is inspired by Disco Elysium where each player is an aspect of one character (logic, empathy, will or slickness), and one aspect can take control for one action or some aspects might conflict with each other.
The second game is Bluebeard Bride, where you all play an archetype inside the head of a woman who just married... well, the title says it all.
None of these games let you play as headmate however, just an aspect of someone. So there is still opportunity for something new to be created (or it already exist and I'm just not aware of it.)

I swear I heard of a game like this in InQuest Magazine back in the late 90s, maybe called “Give Me The Brain” or something….

Edit: okay no it wasn’t that one, that’s about multiple zombies passing one Brain between them.
