"He/Him." Tangata Tiriti. Pakeha.

I'm into a wide variety of popular culture stuff in lots of different media forms, some of which I write about academically. I reshare stuff that amuses me, post random thoughts or resources, and generally hang out.

typecasting actors is a violation of their agency, and as such it's immoral to like anything where an actor is playing a similar role to one they've played previously. these first roles are called "truecasts" and only movies with 100% truecasts are fully okay

this is one of the best pieces of prose-level writing advice i've ever encountered and i wish they'd teach it in elementary schools. i spent SO much time knowing that something like this was what was separating my writing (at the level of diction and sentence structure) from the things i loved to read but not being able to identify it; if i'd run into this it would've cracked off my power limiter in a second. transcript follows after readmore:

Thing is, I have so much nostalgia for getting got by that particular meme that I'll go ahead and click the link even when I know what's going to happen.

the point being that you see the link for what it is before you click it. making you ten times more likely to spot a phishing attempt before you do anything harmful to yourself.

so go ahead. enjoy rick astley. he did more to protect your personal information than any organization, browser, or set of transport protocols/mechanisms up to and including end to end encryption. lol

it's a benign but very obvious result from a deceptive link, like stepping on a land mine and then having it deploy a flag that says "bang"
