That’s what I was worried about at first cuz of the down! They were able to fly back up into a tree after though so I’m pretty sure they’re like, at the cusp of adolescent
yeah they look big enough to be out and about, i think¹, so maybe they're just now fledging. could even be their first time out of the nest even??
¹ i don't know anything about birds but my impression is that once they Look Like The Right Bird they're pretty far along?
I'm 100% in the same boat as you, I know absolutely shit about birds but the downy feathers I was like 'oh fuck did a baby fall out of the nest' and then it flew lmao
