I'm a sucker for sample sales, and I kind of sort of needed a new camera backpack. Ish.

This is a prototype from the development of the ILE Photo Bag Prime. It's similar to the production model except:

  • No PALS webbing on the sides
  • No laptop compartment
  • Slightly less internal pocketing

All of which I'm fine with particularly since it was also a lot cheaper. (Yay sample sales.) The construction is excellent, and it's a locally made bag (here in Berkeley!) with great materials.

The camera compartment is not totally optimal for my preferences, but it's not bad. It just barely fits the RF 800mm f/11, but it's a stretch. Everything else I would possibly want to put in there will fit totally fine, other than a tripod, but I'm not a big tripod user lately.

The padding in the camera compartment is overkill, I would prefer thinner dividers and if I can find some that are deep enough I might replace them. But the bag overall isn't too heavy. It's extremely square shaped and structured, so it stands up on its own very well.

The harness is basic, nothing fancy, but it's comfortable and beefy.
