Context: forum darling hand grinder, hyped for being more "unimodal" than other hand grinders, meaning it produces fewer fines and has higher "clarity" (which usually means more of a focus on acidity in presentation). Probably not a grinder that would appeal to folks who mainly drink dark roasts, and it cannot grind for espresso.

It was initially barely released because nobody in 1zpresso's domestic market liked it, then due to demand spiking due to youtube they did a limited release that was supposed to be the only run of them. Then they did another run anyway, which has subsequently sold out on their website. They have indicated there will probably be more runs in the future, but no info on when.

Rogue Wave is a Canadian distributor and presumably they reserved some from the batch that recently sold out. (They also have good coffee btw, and buying a bunch of lil sample packs from them is a great way to try out a bunch of new coffees.)

Additional datum: a fair number of people who bought grinders in the second run reported that the grinders are very slow, which was not the case with the first run, and doesn't seem to be true of all the new ones either. However, folks mostly still seem to like the grind quality. It's unclear to me what could change the speed of the grinder only, other than possibly machining oils inside the grinder or mechanical changes to the burr assembly or other internals, which nobody has reported.
