@froey asked:

If you dipped in em, what are your top budget IEMs?

BUT the last like hyped CHEAP IEM I actually bought was the Blon BL-03, which other than having ergonomically garbage cables (replaceable, though), absolutely deserved its reputation for an extremely pleasant and crowd-pleasing warm tuning. They're just nice to listen to.

There's been a lot of progress since then in the budget market. I know that a lot of folks go for Crinacle collab stuff and/or Moondrop stuff. The nice thing is that the IEM industry seems to have caught up to an important point, which is that you can have a totally basic and good tuning and throw a ton of subbass on top of that, and get really good results. I know that's largely thanks to Crinacle.

Despite being an avowed basshead, I have no intention to try any of the HBB (Hawaii Bad Boy) collab IEMs, because that guy seems like a real asshole. I've seen him post homphobic jabs at users on forums and then go back and delete it, that kind of guy. I also think it's funny that he absolutely trashed Campfire audio's stuff right up until they started sending him review units.

Anyway, tl;dr, I've never actually owned a Moondrop unit, but if I were going to start from scratch with IEMs, I would probably pick whichever Moondrop set is popular in my price bracket because they seem to have tuning dialed in and good value for money.

My first pair of Moondrops were the Chu's which clogged up after a few months, right now I am using SalNotes Zeros (The Mecha Crinacle red ones actually) and mayyy of gotten a pair of Sennheiser IE300's from my partner. I am just looking to expand my collection in the future since there are so many at various prices, also thanks for the warning me about that one asshole.

Ooh, nice. The tuning on the IE300 looks good.

What I'm personally tempted by right now are the Moondrop Variations and the Phatfreq Maestro Mini, but I have subbass cannons at home. (Empire Ears Bravado Mk1)
