y'know, life is so hyper fast-paced lately. it feels like every five minutes, there's something else going on somewhere and everything wants to make us aware of that. news is non-stop, misinformation just as much so. our discords are constantly popping off with new messages, new discussions, most social medias are focused on more and more content, constantly feeding it to you and making sure you spend as much time as possible on it, and it feels like time moves faster every day. these posts in these hyper-speed spaces have no permanence; if you don't see them, they're gone in two minutes. something you might be interested in? something that's relevant to you? well, get used to either gluing yourself to your phone or computer, or just simply not knowing ever. or hope someone saved it as a link and sent it to you.
this is where i talk about "inactive tags" -- the tags that you use (or even bookmark) that often tend to have only 1-10 new posts a day. these tags are actually a blessing in disguise in this modern, fast-paced, breakneck world we live in. an interest that you don't need to sink half of your day into in order to get caught up on the latest conversations and discoveries.
i bookmarked a fair amount of individual genres, highly specific topics, and the like. these kinds of tags don't really get a whole lot of use from the community (currently). if you wanted to use something a little more inflammatory, you could call them "dead tags". but here's the benefit -- if you are following a tag of something you're interested in, and there's only 1 or 2 new posts a day, that means all the older posts that you could have or would have missed are sitting right there in the tag. no need to scroll pages upon pages to find something that might pique your interest, or something that someone posted that you'd like to comment on (or even discuss in the comments/reshares). you don't need to check these tags every 15 minutes. they simply just exist, for you to check out, at (pretty much) your own convenience.
so why not follow some inactive tags today? slow your timeline down a bit; let yourself have some time to breathe and just read about something obscure or specific that interests you. you don't need to just refresh your (likely far more active) main feed, and you don't need every tag to be specifically "active".
