one of the most important lessons of shojo manga is: don't push yourself
(way too much anime/manga has an underlying message of toxic productivity)
By the way, I Swear I Won't Bother You Again is one of my favorite junk-tier villainess stories because of the incredible contrast between the stakes of the backstory and the stakes of what happens in the main narrative (Spoilers below)
- Premise: A girl tries to MURDER Her younger half-sister and dies miserably in prison, but gets to go back in time to try to mend her ways
- Oh also the reason she tries to murder her sister is because she's fucked up about the fact that not only did her parents never love her but her mother misgendered her throughout her childhood in order to target the kid with her unrequited love for the husband who neglected her
- Sources of "drama" during the course of the main narrative:
- We're doing homework with hot guys, HOW DID THIS HAPPEN
- The prince got a tiny tear in his cape before going on stage at the school talent show, HOW CAN I FIX THIS WITHOUT REVEALING THAT I CAN SEW
- I CAN'T LET ANYONE FIND OUT THAT I LIKE LIZARDS or my nation will be shamed, I must bribe this person with millions of dollars worth of jewels to keep it secret that I like lizards
Seriously though the lizards bit fucking kills me, why are you worried about your secret love of lizards.
