Lomography's 4x5 graflok instax back is really enjoyable now that I've dialed in my workflow! Large format is such an engaging way to make photos, but it's such a pain to dev and scan that I don't shoot it that often. My biggest tip is to underexpose a scene by a full stop, even if you're spot metering the highlights. The dynamic range is worse than slide film, and the exact opposite of how you expose color negative. I find the way instax renders shadows to be more pleasing than the roasted and rough-edged highlights you get with even half a stop of overexposure.
Composing on large format ground glass is like making a painting on an easel.
Usually it’s difficult to photograph the image on a ground glass for the same reason why we use darkcloths to compose and fresnel screens. But here we had enough contrast between the indoor light and the subject’s highlights to resolve detail clearly.
