For those unfamiliar, the Shannara books are a high fantasy slash post apocalyptic sci-fi series by the prolific hack writer Terry Brooks, with basically the premise "what if Lord of the Rings but technically it took place after a nuclear catastrophe but the nuclear catastrophe had almost no implications for the story until book 50something." The early ones are terrible; he got better at the, you know, writing prose part as he want along and after dozens upon dozens of books, they got fairly readable.
MTV adapted one of the books (like, the third or fourth book, I think?) as a series, and it was incredibly goofy. But kinda fun.

My absolute favorite part was getting to spoil for someone (with permission) the ultimate resolution of the central love triangle, which is that one of the main dude's two love interests just...turns into a big tree at the end. Sorry dude, you can't fuck a tree.1
