If you are going to write anything substantial in a rechost that you might conceivably want to find or use ever again, always save it somewhere else (but a copy in your drafts or in a text file somewhere). Because otherwise if someone up the chain blocks you or deletes their post etc. yours will become inaccessible as well.
Honestly it probably makes more sense to make your own post separately and then link to that in the rechost, in many cases, but I"m not usually that organized.
