Several other models as well, pretty sure including the D50 and D70, but I'm not sure which all. The hybrid shutter design and fast sensor readout meant that you could just sync flash at...whatever you wanted, constrained only by your trigger mechanism and the flash's output duration.
Nikon's TTL would artificially limit this, so you had to use a manual syncing method. It's very funny that this wasn't, like, a selling point, surely it would have moved units for studio photographers.
