idly thinking that if in-camera LUTs a la Panasonic's new bodies takes off, and in-camera "AI" noise reduction a la Canon's new bodies does the same, then we might start to approach the point where you really could do everything important in-camera.

The biggest thing that would be missing for me would be digital perspective correction. Incidentally, a camera with built-in perspective correction capable of taking data from the camera's electronic level would be sick as hell, particularly if it let you preview things in the viewfinder such that you could determine how much excess framing you need in order to give the correction enough material to work on.
