If you're on iPhone, there is (I tried so many) exactly one: Downcast! It does everything I need in a podcast app, it gets security updates and bug fixes but no new features, it's 2.99, it's my favorite app of any kind on my phone
if you're not on ios sorry I got nothing
I use pocket casts, it hasn't caused me any active problems. Is it good? I have no idea, but at least it hasn't annoyed me enough to make me look for anything else
overcast has exactly as many features as i care about, and there is one unobtrusive banner ad (that, in my experience, only links to other podcasts within the app) at the bottom of the player screen. i have had zero problems with it.
