30th Anniversary of Garak

The second episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine aired for the first time thirty years ago, on January 11th 1993. This episode is the first that everybody, and especially one Julian Bashir, are introduced to the character of Garak.

Which is, of course, not significant for any reason at all. Just like Garak himself. Plain, ordinary, nothing of note whatsoever. What could be less threatening than a mere tailor, who no fault of his own is now accused of tax evasion? Banish the thought. So many thoughts, all deserving of banishment, unlike our simple and naive protagonist Garak.

Celebrate Garak's legacy on DS9 by using excessive italics in all your posts today!

  1. Quark. You know Quark is all over those space cryptocurrency and space MRA subreddits.
  2. Bashir. It's firmly established Bashir is the horny one. & the nerd
  3. Kira. Kira is hardcore twitter antifa, obviously.
  4. Ezri Dax. Ezri is a space millennial, so she's all over space instagram or w/e
  5. Nog. Nog is the one that has to fix everybody's computer when they accidentally download malware browser extensions
  6. Jake Sisko. Jake thinks he's super online, but he's not actually very online. Jake is on Space Medium
  7. Jadzia Dax.
  8. Garak. Garak isn't that online himself, but obviously he's mentioned constantly on space wikileaks
  9. Rom
  10. O'Brien. O'Brien is mostly not online, but he's got fucking thousands of posts on some weird decades-old engineering forum
  11. Ben Sisko. Ben Sisko just, like, follows space sports and news, or something.
  12. Worf
  13. Odo. Worf and Odo are confused when people forward them cute pet gifs

I continue to be pretty proud of "Jake is on Space Medium" tbh
