my general thought on apple's wwdc thing is that they avoided saying 'ai' for everything they're doing with machine learning & generally speaking i think it worked for making people not get angry about them integrating algorithmic stuff into every aspect of the new iOS & macOS & watchOS updates

which, in the grand scheme of things, isn't super egregious, it's just something i noticed

anyway the 'machine learning generated face' thing for the vision pro face time is nightmarish & i never want to look at anyone's or have me represented by one ever

i’ve also noticed that every time i see them use ml stuff it doesn’t feel like it’s too annoying or anything? the most in your face the ml thing is the new autocorrect which i stan actually. i feel like apple seems to generally have a good sense at how to have ml enhance stuff in a more seamless way rather than replace stuff in a way that calls attention to itself. although this is based off of memory idk

yeah, the most obviously trend-driven thing i saw was their journaling prompts, which is mostly harmless since i dont see myself ever using an apple-developed journaling app over like, a physical journal
