phantom liberty soundtrack turning into the 13 Sentinels soundtrack where i can't listen to it without wanting to cry because i get overwhelmed with Emotion

if you had told me almost 3 years ago that this is how i'd eventually feel about anything CP2077 i'd have called u crazy but god damn. i'm so glad they turned that thing around man. 2.0 is a really wonderful re-invention of a foundation they clearly wanted to be better settled at launch but Phantom Liberty is on another level it's definitely up there as one of my favorite narratives in that thematic space.

eventually i'll end up writing a big long thing about it but the short of it is this for me too. cyberpunk-adjacent stories have always been my favorite in media due to the kind of stories of humanity they can tell. phantom liberty just hits all those right spots for me as a story within a story & it's wild how much premise is wrapped up there, but if you let yourself in, it goes so extremely hard

You're just about the only person who could convince me to give this game a chance both given what it was when it launched in every sense, not just technical, and also just because of my perpetual burnout with western AAA in general. But seeing you write about it all in such glowing terms has genuinely put it on my to-do list and I'll probably pick up a copy here over the holiday season or something. I never got around to The Witcher 3 because of that same exhaustion, but I'm more amenable to settings like this in general and you've persuaded me this is a game worth making an exception for. I genuinely can't wait to make the dive now and see how I take to it myself. :eggbug-relieved:

It's definitely AAA in that starting a new save + getting to the expansion content + beating the expansion will probably run you 30-40 hours depending. My total playtime for the base game + expac + doing all the side stuff I really wanted to see ended up being just shy of 70 hours.

But also yeah it's... it's really worth it. I think the base game is really fun but the story in Phantom Liberty specifically goes a lot of places and on top of being a really fun espionage story, I think it uses some really neat concepts established in the base game to explore really fascinating ideas about humanity and freedom. I can't speak highly of it enough.
