(im gonna do it here because i hate spamming people on twitter)
- 2022 | man idk yet?? citizen sleeper rules, so does norco, and somnium files 2...but i'm playing xenoblade 3 and it's incredible too, so, it'll be a tough tumble to see where i end up after the year's over
- 2021 | Eastward - i said ffxiv endwalker on my giant bomb list but as a stand-alone experience i think eastward resonates more in my memories. i love it a lot. i get emotional thinking about it.. but i do with endwalker too!! it just requires a lot of build-up to get to that point.
- 2020 | 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim - i love this game so goddamn much. erica is playing thru it now, and i'm just reminded every time she does that it goes so hard at all times.
- 2019 | AI: The Somnium Files - oh hey this one came out three years ago. it was the top of my list then and i think it still holds up. you could say outer wilds here and still be correct, but i have a soft spot in my heart for uchikoshi games
- 2018 | Hollow Knight - i know it didn't actually come out this year, but this is the year it released on the platforms i ended up beating it on....so there
- 2017 | NieR Automata - it's just really good ok
- 2016 | Inside - i think i was one of the only people who called this their goty, but i think it still stands as one of the coolest versions of this kind of game i've played. moody, good puzzles, cathartic ending
- 2015 | Undertale - i didn't actually play undertale the year it came out, but this is the year it came out. which runs counter to my ruling on hollow knight but, it's ok i can be inconsistent
- 2014 | Transistor - still probably my favorite of supergiant's games! i love the overall aesthetic and vibes... hades ultimately plays better, but i like weird programming shmuppy sword tactics
