have I got some good news for you!
if you want super mario bros on a japanese personal computer of that era, I've got "great" news for you: super mario bros special is real, it's officially licensed, and it CAN hurt you
I love to think about this kind of thing, and while I can't make it happen, I can at least do some silly musical arranges as a what if
I demand HITMAN written in Inform
(actually it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Hitman was prototyped in Inform first)
If I had unlimited time and executive function, I'd port FF7 to the N64 with 3D in-engine cutscenes and environments, if only to prove it would have been possible.
I'm not gonna lie Christine, I'm so afflicted with the arcade PCB collecting sickness these days that ever since I learned about the beauty of Mission Craft, I've been checking auctions for it every couple of months, hoping against hope. My soul yearns to have tangible evidence this thing actually exists, even if I'll be worse for it in the long run. 😩
Mikado in Takadanobaba used to have a machine of it and it is incredible. Absolutely terrible game. You would NOT believe how bad the slowdown gets with rendering as many sprites as it wants to. You can't help but deeply admire the audacity.
Aaah, I was just there last month hoping against hope they'd still have the arcade port of Tokimeki Memorial set up and was heartbroken to find it wasn't up any longer. It doesn't shock me to hear they have this, too, but it only makes it hurt that much more knowing what else I missed for being so late to the party. 😩
(Still a hell of a place and I bought like $30 worth of merch, but yeah.)
Either way, as a sicko who has fond memories of EDF2 on the PS2 hitting single digits in the endgame missions, I look forward to experiencing that majesty for myself. 😌
I wonder what the chances are that the boards self-destruct at the slightest provocation like G-Stream G2020
