blogging (ashamedly)

Hello! I'm an artist, writer, and game developer. I work for @7thBeatGames on "A Dance of Fire and Ice" and "Rhythm Doctor."

I run @IndieGamesofCohost where I share screenshots and spotlights of indie games. I also interview devs here on Cohost.

Does anyone else get anxiety about what their pfp/icon/avatar should be like? Like specifically my anxiety is like "what if i use a goofy avatar, but then I post really serious subject matter like current events and politics, it might come across as inappropriate..."

But maybe I shouldn't stress about that hahaha

Consistency of identity is also huge for me: I'm worried that if I change my pfp people will completely forget who I am at a glance. One way I tried to slightly mitigate this was that my previous avatar I was a different drawing of me but used the same exact purple-and-black color scheme. So I tried to make it as recognizable as possible.

Currently I'm debating whether I should animate my pfp to look like it's talking. I've seen a few people on cohost do that and I think it's cute. BUT WHAT IF I POST ABOUT SERIOUS THINGS???

This very thought keeps me up at night sometimes. My pfp is a gurren lagann reference that I drew over 10 years ago and while I still love that anime, it's become a weird weight around my online identity. It's sort of an unspoken rule that artists have to draw their own pfp or at the very least, commission it or be gifted one by someone else. But I don't even know what I'd change it to at this point. I guess to keep in theming, it'd be another mecha reference but my only options are to go even older (Getter, Gundam, etc) since nothing new has really supplanted GL in both its iconic imagery and personal place in my heart.

i wanted to make a cohost account but i felt like my discord pfp was too casual and my twitter pfp was too "fandom"
i went with rupert from rhythm heaven megamix edited to look like flowey undertale
not sure if this is better
