this year's event snuck up on me!! i gave a truncated watch through & came away with a couple big hits for me that are immediately on my wishlist... really cool stuff all-around, but these really stood out imo
i hate being reductive like this, but Nightmare Operator really feels like what i hoped ghostwire tokyo might have been. i do love the weirdo magic you do in ghostwire, but the horror vibes here feel a lot more like signalis with its low poly look. super super sick stuff, awesome music too?? gimme
i've been looking forward to Piggy One Super Sparks since it got announced!! hako's sprite work is on ridiculous display in the gameplay reveal here, and i'm just so psyched to give this one a play.
in the rich tradition of yunilikes (yume nikki likes lol), i adore a game where someone goes into dreams to discover who they want to be... this looks like a really interesting take on that kind of narrative style. interested to give it a play!!
Devil Blade Reboot is actually out, so you don't even need to wait!! i still need to get to it since i have a million things on my plate, but i'm SO psyched to give it a go. if you're not familiar, the game is made by one of the artists at Vanillaware, shigatake, and with new arrangements by hasu (who previously wrote one of my favorite surprise OSTs of 2023 for Path of the Abyss!)
