i'm curious what the quickest original-to-remake pipeline is in video games. my gut - and probably yours too - wants to say last of us, but it honestly might be pokemon red & blue to fire red & leaf green?
Hello! I'm an artist, writer, and game developer. I work for @7thBeatGames on "A Dance of Fire and Ice" and "Rhythm Doctor."

I run @IndieGamesofCohost where I share screenshots and spotlights of indie games. I also interview devs here on Cohost.

If you count Animal Crossing on Gamecube to be a "remake" of the N64 version that was Japan only, that came out literally the same year 8 months later so maybe that. Or maybe Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
Its really interesting to me how that short of a time for a remake was actually super reasonable given how fast technology was advancing(heheh) at the time.
The RE1 remake has an almost identical gap of time, for example.
the first fire emblem got a combined partial remake and sequel in mystery of the emblem (4 years later) if that counts... smb3 to all-stars was only 5 years too
looking into it a bit more, the quickest remake i can think of (that's not just an enhanced port or remaster) is probably kirby's star stacker which was just one year after the original. i'm sure there's those that would argue that's merely an "snes version" and not a remake though
Wario's Woods probably falls into the same category. I'm not sure if mystery of the emblem actually falls into that category or not though
It's not going to compete for the top spot, but I think 6 years from Metal Gear Solid to Twin Snakes is pretty wild given how much of a remake it is.
