I can't believe that the random Killua AMV that they find on Media Club Plus and riff about is the EXACT Killua AMV I was hoping they meant, and literally one of the only AMVs that I would rewatch over and over as a kid.
Whenever people gush about old AMVs it's NEVER something I actually remember from my childhood, but here we are. We made it. I think about this one all the time.
god I love the look of the 1999 anime so much. there's such a depth and texture to the whole thing that feels missing from the newer one, idk if it's just traditional vs digipaint or what.
Absolutely. I think theres a bunch of factors: different directors, different artists, different tastes from that era, but I also think a lot of those things ARE influenced by the fact that its traditional.
I got so devastated today watching some clips from the Greed Island OVA they did and unfortunately the vibes are not QUITE as immaculate. I dunno if they switched away from cels before starting Greed Island or what but it's a slight bummer.
Chimera ant woulda looked so good in the old style though.
