Why Are The Trevor Project Terrible Again?

But Trevor claims it prizes diversity among its executive team
and that the team is composed of “experienced leaders, including:
eight women (seven who are cisgender, one who is transgender);
four men (three who are cisgender, one who is transgender);
in addition, seven are BIPOC.”
-The Trevor Project Source for Washington Blade, 2023

i actually have no doubt trevor "prizes diversity" among its execs. a panel of two transgender AND seven BIPOC? shit, those are some numbers! no names, of course; trevor is much more interested in their identities than their identity, if you follow

Additionally, in the last few years, Trevor has created the
organization’s first affinity groups: Black@Trevor, Trans@Trevor,
AAPI@Trevor, Latinx@Trevor, and Disability@Trevor.
-The Trevor Project Source for Washington Blade, 2023

if you look up "trevor project executives", you'll get their "Meet our team" page, listing the board of directors.

The Trevor Project's graphic of the Board of Directors, as of July 2022.

these are not the executives; the trevor project doesn't have an easily available list of their actual leadership. some of these members do appear to also be executives, but there have been so many recent departures that it'll be hard to verify until we have their most recent tax records.

the appointment appears to be for 5 years, which is why dustin lance black and neil patrick harris aren't on the board anymore. queer folks with history filmmaking seems to be trevor's favorite. we call that move "peggy-backing" in the nonprofit scene

so... what does the board of directors do? aside from oust their CEO for pill pushing?

Our Board of Directors is integral to Trevor’s mission and
provides strategic direction to Trevor’s leadership, acting
as our leading ambassadors with donors and partners.
     -The Trevor Project, 2022

when you're a "straight, white godmother of a gay suicidal hotline" and are being accused of yelling at staff members, firing contractors with short to no notice, and actively targeting unionized employees for layoffs, you need people to tell you to stop doing that, or to be blamed when you don't.

the board of directors is a diverse group who exist to inform the executives, who are themselves already very well informed and queer and did we mention seven of them are bipoc? seven! and two transes!!

the actual decision makers aside from peggy, are not listed as "Team Trevor". if the "executive team" has the "experienced leaders" and a numerically satisfactory number of trans people, why are their advisors the ones getting credit?

just who the fuck is on this board, anyways? we'll get to the c-suite, but the board room is on the way; i've done basic research into everyone on The Trevor Project's board of directors, based on what's available online and what Trevor reveals in their biographies.

i'm airing on the side of caution as to any claims of qualification, or lack thereof. this isn't a callout list or some stupid shit, please don't bother any of these people, yeah?

quotes from here-on-out, unless otherwise stated, are from The Trevor Project's "Meet Our Team" page.

Dr. A.C. Fowlkes | Health Psychologist

Board Member of The Trevor Project

Picture of Doctor A.C. Fowlkes, wearing half-frame glasses and a sweater vest while leaned against a tree.

  • Trans man with a doctorate in health psychology
  • CEO of LGBTQ focused consultancy firm, which includes a special course just for c-suite members
  • Okay actually a lot of focus on C-suite coaching
Dr. Fowlkes has a Ph.D. in health psychology with a clinical
specialization. His clinical training has afforded him an opportunity
to work at various levels in the mental health field, most recently
serving as the Chief Operating Officer or Interim Chief Executive Officer
for multiple behavioral health facilities.

He has also provided clinical services in the prison system,
having previously served as the Chief Psychologist of the second
largest prison in Virginia.

for some reason, Trevor also decides to narc highlight his past working for Virgina's only private state prison, at least near as i can tell.

they call it the "second largest prison in virgina", which would be the Lawrenceville Correctional Center owned by prison industrial complex ghouls GEO group. this would align with fowlkes' linkedin, where he said he worked with a population of "approximately 1400 offenders"

Dr. Fowlkes is a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider.
He has worked with some of the highest-risk sex offenders
in the country.

trevor, your wording. it uh, it needs work.

far as i can tell, Dr. Fowlkes has done alright work for some terrible companies, and went on to start a probably not terrible consultancy firm to drill into execs heads that queer people exist.

but, trevor really likes to point out how much he works with private orgs, especially prisons:

He has provided training and consultation in multiple
settings which include but are not limited to: the financial sector,
the aerospace sector, the prison system, institutions of higher
education, and psychiatric hospitals.

that said, this feels more telling as to trevor's priorities as a corp than it does dr. fowlkes qualifications. but he's a real doctor with lived queer experience and charity work to boot, we're off to a good start!

Amy E. Taylor | Marketing Exec for Zevia's Charity Branch

Co-Vice Chair of The Trevor Project's Board of Directors

if you look up Amy E. Taylor on The Internet, you'll find a liver surgeon in cincinnati with over 14 years of experience. she's a pediatrician, she'd be a great get for a childrens' health org!

in her spare time she likes to knit as she finds it relaxing and rewarding. good that her days are not spent on the board of The Trevor Project, because the Amy E Taylor trevor has is a different lady who sells energy drinks and soda

Amy Taylor giving a presentation, hands hold out while holding a remote control for a projector.

now, there are three reasons this amy could be here:

1: working for a PBC is seen as "close enough" to charity work to count
2: the "marketing executive" part of her job description
3: stevia is the cure to suicidal ideation

trevor then goes on to roll an ad for Zevia (strongly implying the third)

Together they aim to address global health and sustainability
by providing a platform of great-tasting, zero-sugar, affordable
beverages made from plants, without selling a single plastic bottle.

Zevia seeks to join their peer ESG companies in the better-for-you
food and beverage space to ensure their products are affordable and
sustainable – for the communities they serve and for the planet.

marketing, for the planet

yes, Zevia's the drink that'll cure the world of consumption, or whatever else ails ya. i guess i'd rather queer kids be ODing on seltzer than energy drinks, so maybe Amy has some good intentions?

Amy spent 20 years at Red Bull, serving in roles including
Executive Vice President/General Manager for the
East Business Unit (2012-2017) and as Vice President,
Marketing (2007-2012) for North America among other sales
and marketing leadership roles.

this seriously hurts her credentials as a lead in "global health", not because energy drinks are slowly killing us, but because red bull is mid at best. she has done incalculable harm to people's taste in gas station drinks, and for that should step down from the board

well, that, or her title of "professional creativity appreciator"

She is an avid global traveler and a “professional appreciator”
of many forms of creativity across art and music.

i knew a kid who dropped opioids into red bull and called it "white bull", perhaps his creativity earned some professional appreciation from amy and amit alike!

she doesn't seem that bad, i just don't know what the fuck she's doing here.

Antonia Belcher | "A Trans Philanthropist"

Board Member of The Trevor Project

Antonia Belcher at a fundraising event for GiveOut

Most trans organisations around the world survive on
less than £7,500 a year.

How could we expect these courageous organisations
to fight for trans equality, challenge laws, provide support,
safe spaces and raise awareness of the challenges faced by
our community, when they are operating on almost nothing?

So I decided to do something about it, and take on a new
identity. I am Antonia Belcher, a trans philanthropist.
-Antonia Belcher, A Trans Philantropist, 2022

her own words, if that wasn't clear. see, i worry when someone self-describes as a philanthropist, but near as i can tell, antonia has put money where her mouth is. got her start in construction on the financial side, but she seems pretty laser-focused these days on raising money for organizations working to further trans peoples' rights around the world, so, cool!

she came out as a trans woman in the early 2000s business world of the united kingdom, so if nothing else she probably has experience dealing with cis businessboys talking over her, and understands some of the oppression trevor ostensibly exists to fight

she specializes in fundraising for queer charities, seems a perfect match, moving on!

Bentley de Beyer | Goldman Sachs' Former Head of Human Capital Management

Board Member of The Trevor Project

Bentley de Beyer, low-quality in one of few available photos.

Bentley first joined the firm in 1999 in the
Investment Banking Division in the Sydney office.
He rejoined Goldman Sachs in 2020 as a partner in
the Human Capital Management Division in
the New York office.

Previously, Bentley worked in human resources at several
multinational organizations across various industries,
including Johnson & Johnson, where he served as head
of human resources for the global supply chain.

this man has qualifications in human resources, employee retention, and cleaning up goldman sachs after they settled multiple lawsuits alleging sexual assault, harassment, and prioritizing men over women during hiring

i'm not claiming he was responsible for any of those allegations, but i cannot stress enough that human resources experience is not the same as crisis counseling experience, least of all from goldman sachs

or johnson and fucking johnson

he's retired now, but still listed as active at trevor. maybe he's gay or somethin, iunno. anyways.

Jason Cole | VP of Mergers & Acquisitions for AMC Theatres

Treasurer of The Board of The Trevor Project

Jason Cole. A very white man on a very white void.

In his current role, Jason played leadership roles in the
acquisition and integration of Starplex Theatres and
Carmike Cinemas in the United States and Odeon
Cinemas Group and the Nordic Cinema Group in Europe.

This series of transactions propelled AMC to be the largest
movie theatre chain in the United States, in Europe and in
the world.

this man is the treasurer for the board of The Trevor Project, according to his linkedin. his degree is in radio & TV sciences from Texas Christian University

He also led the project team that brought movie theatres
to Saudi Arabia after a 35-year absence through a joint venture
with the Public Investment Fund under the AMC banner.

look, i live in missouri, i've been to AMCs. they're. fine, i guess- it feels pretty shit to make waiters interrupt everyone watching a movie to sneak around aisles, carrying trays of food in the dark.

i don't exactly know what qualifies this guy for the gay suicide charity, other than working for AMC's charitable tax shelter. trevor does like to hire people who work for corporate 'giving' arms as if that's real charity, eh?

He oversaw the food & beverage team during a time of great
innovation as the company developed its dine-in and enhanced
F&B concepts. He moved into corporate strategy as AMC led the
industry in the drive to upgrade the guest experience with enhanced
seating, sight & sound and food & beverage.

"sight and sound and food and beverage". the editors cry out for an oxford comma but instead get jason's oxfords to lick clean.

ya think he and amy talk shop about 'enhanced f&b concepts'?

Julian J. Moore | Lawyer, NAACP Member

Chair of The Board of The Trevor Project

Julian Moore in front of a white void, smiling in a blue suit and tie.

Previously, Julian served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the
U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY)
where he was a member of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Unit.

Among his many prominent cases at SDNY, Julian served as a lead
prosecutor in the investigation of the Bernard L. Madoff Ponzi Scheme,
the largest financial crime in world history.

this is one of the main folks who prosecuted Bernie Madoff! i'd brag about that on my resume too, i'll admit. julian seems to have dedicated his life to investigating massive financial crimes committed by corps:

Julian’s practice also includes the design, implementation, and
review of anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) compliance programs,
and ABC due diligence in connection with corporate transactions.

Before joining Allen & Overy, Julian was a Senior Managing Director,
and member of the leadership team, at K2 Intelligence,
an international investigative, compliance, and cyber defense
services firm.

His practice focused on large-scale and high-profile corporate investigations
involving corruption and various types of fraud; and investigations in
support of high-stakes international and domestic legal disputes.

there are two reasons why you'd want an expert on financial crimes on your board. preventative or proactive. julian's on the level by all accounts, so i doubt it's the second.

trevor is pretty open about how it wastes its money on tech instead of people, the only crime being committed here is against humanity. and that ain't on julian! probably!

he's only become chair within the past year when gina muñoz left at the end of 2022, at least according to the internet archive. (gina's name gets removed from the list of board members around the same time peggy goes from board member to interim CEO, so take from that what you will.)

Lauren Morelli | Writer, Director, Producer

Co-Vice Chair of The Board of The Trevor Project

Lauren Morelli, wearing glasses and black headphones, giving direction on a set.

Over the past several years, Lauren has served as showrunner
and executive producer of Overlooked for Netflix— produced by
the Obama’s company, Higher Ground, and based on the celebrated
New York Times column of the same name— as well as Armistead
Maupin’s Tales of the City, starring Laura Linney, Olympia Dukakis,
and Elliot Page.

Lauren helmed an entirely queer writers room for the show, with
episodes directed by both trans and gay directors. She has also
had the honor of working on the first five seasons of
Orange Is the New Black, which received 17 Emmy nominations,
six Golden Globe nominations, and six Writers Guild nominations.

trevor still found a way to make it about cops, but at least not in a positive light this time. lauren is actually queer aND has a more storied filmmaking history than any CEO could ever hope to :>

for whatever reason, the trevor project's bio on lauren ends like this:

Before moving to Los Angeles in 2007, Lauren received a BFA
in Modern Dance from Marymount Manhattan College, which
was about as useful as her father predicted it would be.

Lauren was raised in Pittsburgh by an accountant and an
English teacher, but she can neither add nor spell.

i'm... gonna assume Lauren wrote this bio, at least in part, for herself, cuz otherwise torrieu who would write about someone else like this in a professional setting? i've sussed out her dad is a conservative and she harbors feelings about her past in dance, but can't figure out where this anecdote about numbers and spelling comes from.

that's a common joke queer folks will make about themselves (gay people can't drive, can't do math, etc.). maybe that's what this is? and just because i can't do math or divre or spell doesn't make it true, alright?!

lauren's fine! let's move on!

Dr. Marci Bowers | Gynecologist & Gender Affirming Surgeon

Board Member of The Trevor Project

Dr. Bowers standing outside for an interview.

Marci Bowers, M.D. of Burlingame, California, is recognized as a
pioneer in the field of Gender Affirming Surgery and is the first
person with transgender history and the first woman to perform
Gender Affirming Genital surgeries for the trans community in the world.

"person with transgender history"... yoooou mean a trans woman, trevor? she's a trans woman!

so, as this is written, they're saying she's the first woman to perform gender affirming genital surgeries, and she's trans. wikipedia simplifies the wording to "first transgender woman to perform such surgeries"- but trevor has elected to create a distinction between "trans person" and "woman" in this quote.

in an attempt to fill out her accomplishments as being the Most First at things, trevor circles all the way back around to calling her a "person with transgender history".
which. sucks.

Dr. Bowers is the WPATH President-elect and has served on the
board of directors for both GLAAD and the Transgender Law Center.

Her transgender work has been highlighted by appearances on Oprah,
CBS Sunday Morning, Discovery Health and the TLC reality series,
“I am Jazz”. She was interviewed in 2021 by Leslie Stahl for the CBS News
program 60 Minutes.

hey maybe don't mention the oprah appearances, trevor. there's a history there.

she has a long history of TV appearances and gender affirming surgery, but boy do i think trevor gives a shit about one of those things.

but dr. bowers herself is fine, i think. she was also on the malsh walsh """documentary""" What Is A Woman?, but very much as the antagonist who dares to say trans people deserve healthcare

Dr. Bowers is recognized as one of the 100 most influential LGBT
people on the Guardian’s World Pride Power List and one of
Huffington Post’s 50 Transgender Icons, was called the
Transgender Surgery Rock Star (Denver Post), the Georgia O’keefe
of Genitalia (unknown) and the Beyonce of Bottom Surgery
(KPFK-FM in North Hollywood).

"the Georgia O’keefe of Genitalia (unknown)"

uh. citation needed:

DuckDuckGo Search results for "Georgia O'keefe of Genitalia" Other than The Trevor Project, no such luck.

also, trevor left off the accent in beyoncé's name i would never. anyways.

Mike Dillon | Retired Chief Diversity Officer at PWC

Board Member of The Trevor Project

Mike Dillon, stood stock still in front of a LGBTQ+ Victory Institute wall.

At PWC, Mike served as the Chief Diversity Officer from
2016-2019 on the senior leadership team reporting directly
to the CEO. In this role, he drove strategy and initiatives to
create an inclusive work culture for over 50,000 employees

Mike also served as a M&A partner assisting clients executing
IPOs and divestiture transactions.

i can't find a lot about mike dillon outside of his career. his twitter, now X, account has been deleted but who can blame him? he still posts a lot about the trevor project on his linkedin, and is on the board of several charitable foundations

Post from Mike Dillion on LinkedIn. "Participation in sports is for everyone. Pls share this training with coaches in your life."

now, i could be cynical and point out his 34 years at PWC, during which time he became "Chief Diversity Officer", and then joined the board of trevor as their treasurer.

in mid 2019 he had enough of diversity, but he was still at PWC as an "audit partner". a couple months later, trevor announces a multi-million dollar several year partnership with PWC.

mike has has since taken a step back to simple board member (so now the AMC guy handles the money).

look, he could be a gay man, or an ally with an interest. he could also be taking a paycheque under the guise of diversity. all i'm saying is why does trevor even have their board of directors conflict of interest agreement listed if the PWC guy can join trevor and tell em 'hey partner with PWC trust me'?

Orlan Boston | Venture Capitalist & Film Producer

Co-Vice Chair of The Trevor Project

Orlan Boston stands for a picture, arms crossed, in a blue suit in front a grey-white backdrop.

this man has the longest bio of anyone on the trevor project's page. and to be honest, the more i read it, the less impressed i get.

Orlan has spent the past two decades serving in a variety of
senior leadership roles in business, media, public service,
nonprofits, and philanthropy as a Senior Partner at EY and Deloitte,
entrepreneur, venture capital investor, film producer, author,
presidential appointee, philanthropist, and member of a number of boards.

this is the first half of five paragraphs sucking this guy's dick, probably because it's just a loose rewording of goldman sach's previous suckage

He has spent the past two decades serving in a variety of senior
leadership roles in business, media, public service, nonprofits, and
philanthropy as a Senior Partner at EY and Deloitte, entrepreneur,
venture capital investor, film producer, author, presidential
appointee, philanthropist, and member of several boards.
-Goldman Sach's Bio on Goldman Sachs

it reads like someone put a wikipedia article through some rewording plagiarist AI, which would track. can't say if that was trevor, orlan, or some poor underpaid worker told if they didn't write it an AI would instead.

this means the trevor project officially describes richard branson, micheal bloomberg and robert F kennedy jr. as "luminaries":

Orlan conducted many of the book’s interviews covering a variety
of themes including leadership, social entrepreneurship, corporate
social responsibility, and innovation in environmental sustainability
and climate change, with such luminaries as Ted Turner,
Sir Richard Branson, Michael Bloomberg, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,
and Jane Goodall.

maybe goodall gave them a few pointers!

in the goldman sachs version these ghouls are instead described as "global game-changers". so, trevor was smart enough to remove that bit, but still felt the need to bring them up at all.

The Out List featured some of today’s leading LGBT voices in
America including Ellen Degeneres, Cynthia Nixon,
Neil Patrick Harris, Wanda Sykes, and Dustin Lance Black
and aired on HBO all over the world in the summer of 2013.

TODAY'S LEADING LGBT VOICES (of summer 2013).

guy's a vulture capitalist with an interest in DEI. ugh. moving on.

Rebecca Sugar | Creator of Steven Universe

Board Member of The Trevor Project

Rebecca Sugar in a beige blazer and glasses, sitting at a mic at ComicCon.

wait... that rebecca sugar?

Ground-breaking, creative juggernaut, Rebecca Sugar (she/they)
is an animator, director, screenwriter, producer, and songwriter.
They are best known for their Emmy-Nominated, GLAAD and
Peabody award-winning series, STEVEN UNIVERSE, on which
they served as executive producer, director, head writer,
storyboard artist, and songwriter.

Prior, they were a writer, storyboard artist, and songwriter on
ADVENTURE TIME. Rebecca has been fighting for LGBTQIA+
content in children’s media since 2010, and for a more inclusive
environment both on screen and behind the scenes in the
animation industry.

huh. i'll be damned. look, she's not unqualified by any means- without her work, the state of queer representation in children's media would be far worse.

but... that's where the trevor project's bio ends. they stole generated five paragraphs on the VC guy but this is all we get on rebecca

if they have a history of activism outside of the animation industry, trevor certainly hasn't bothered mentioned it.

i honestly think when rebecca was given the chance to be on trevor's board they saw it as an opportunity to make a difference. i do wonder how she feels about them these days, though

so. yeah. lot of TV and film industry people, eh? anyways.

Shelly McNamara | Chief Equality & Inclusion Officer of Procter & Gamble

Executive Committee Member of The Board of The Trevor Project

Shelly McNamara

Shelly is responsible for leading strategies to make P&G one
of the most innovative, diverse, and inclusive companies in the world.

As a seasoned Human Resources and Transformational leader,
she actively champions diversity and inclusion—driving strategic
and tactical shifts in talent systems to build a pipeline of outstanding
and diverse talent.

so, to review, trevor has described robert F kennedy jr. as a "luminary", director lauren morelli as illiterate, and procter and gamble as "one of the most innovative" companies in the world.

i thiiiiink i'm starting to understand the trevor project's approach to board appointees:

see, they're a quote "suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people". when you're the kind of company that brags about the exact number of trans & BIPOC people in your c-suite as a justification for your CEO being a straight white cis woman, you tend to see representation as checkboxes.

so shelly here is a gay woman, that's "LGBTQ" taken care of. she's a mom, boom, "young people", sorted.

"crisis intervention" and "suicide prevention" are just forms of "healthcare", and since procter & gamble aspire to be healthcare, doing human resources management for them is kinda the same thing, no?

Shelly is well regarded as an organization strategist who drives
meaningful business results through thoughtful choices and caring
leadership.

see! she makes the thoughtful choices, which drive meaningful business results. this is a thing she is well regarded for, you see!

She is business and people-focused, results-oriented, and widely
recognized for the trusting, collaborative relationships she builds.

oh shit both well regarded AND widely recognized? the twofer...

so hey none of this means anything, jesus fucking christ. did charlie kelly write this? she IS business!

i don't think shelly is incompetent by any means. she seems nice! trevor, just, has such a way with words.

her poems are a lot better.

Thomas Sanchez | Founder & CEO of Social Driver

Secretary for The Board of The Trevor Project

Tom Sanchez in a blue suit and glasses in front of a grey background.

Thomas Sanchez, Founder and CEO of Social Driver, is an
innovator and entrepreneur focused on the intersection of
marketing and technology.

Under his leadership, Social Driver was named
“DC’s Coolest Companies” (DCInno) and the 7th fastest
growing agency in the United States (The Agency 100).

oh heck! "social driver was named 'DC's coolest companies!' " all of them!!

i have been looking at the social driver website for ten minutes and cannot for the life of me figure out what this company is. i thiiink it's one of those "cool" social media management things, that (used to) post snarky shit on twitter and decides which shade of purple has a higher ROI.

a branding firm for corps trying to seem progressive. including but certainly not limited to amazon, meta, and the united states military

Featured case study: Modern Military Association of America, "Unifying two prominent LGBTQ military advocacy organizations under one brand."

Since the form of the logo and primary palette captures the
organization’s military focus, we employed a secondary color
palette and tagline to express the organization’s commitment
to the LGBTQ community.

All these elements contribute to a brand that resonates with
the diverse audiences in the military and LGBTQ political spheres.
-"Unifying two prominent LGBTQ military advocacy
organizations under one brand" by Social Driver

ah yes. what trevor needs is an expert on bringing queer people into the military industrial complex. we have him and his husband to thank for that; they founded the company together

We also launched a philanthropic effort called
The Driver Foundation which lets our employees support
nonprofits like The Trevor Project by giving back 1% of
our revenues.

This pride season, I’d like to thank my husband for supporting
my work with The Trevor Project and our mission of saving
young LGBTQ lives.
-Thomas Sanchez' "Story of Pride", 2022

WEW BABEY 1%! now that's a way to celebrate "pride season"!!!

Whether building businesses, mentoring young entrepreneurs
or working with clients, Thomas evangelizes his beliefs that the
future is bright, progress is social and the drivers make history.

i would rather him not evangelize his beliefs, actually. "profess", "declare", "promote", there's a lot of words with fewer contextually negative connotations to use.

tom and his hubby are gay capitalist marketers. trevor likes him for that. next.

Vanessa M. Benavides | Senior Vice President & Chief Legal Officer for Kaiser Foundation's Health & Hospitals

Board Member of The Trevor Project

Vanessa Benavides. Her suit is blue and her glasses are black. The background is grey.

so trevor just lifted this lady's linked-in profile whole-hog, meaning in her biography justifying why she's on the board of the trevor project, we get this:

Benavides is also a member of the board of directors of
The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing
crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth.

'not only does she work for the trevor project but, AND GET THIS,'

being chief legal officer for kaiser pemanente must be a full-time job, luckily she has plenty of practice:

Prior to that, she was chief compliance officer for
Tenet Healthcare, where she managed ethics and
compliance programs across all Tenet-owned entities,
including acute care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers,
outpatient centers, physician practices, commercial and
government health plans, and Conifer Health Solutions,
Tenet’s health management services subsidiary.

personally, i don't think i'd brag about that, but then again, i'm not an AI trying to plagiarize other people's work.

wait WAIT, those words aren't on her linkedin- some of them are on kaiser's website, but i guess a human did have to write some copy for trevor at some stage here.

just, didn't try very hard.

so! vanessa was responsible for "ethics and compliance programs" across "all tenet-owned entities?", eh?

she's also on the board of the CDC, but only joined the month after joining The Trevor Project. maybe it just looked too good on a resume to delete! she was also on the board for the human rights campaign for a decade after being a volunteer

reading quotes from her, she seems like a queer activist who quit being a lawyer and bought into the idea of capitalism "for good". there's only one of these people left, so i'll harbor my lefty gripes for the time being. just know! i'm sighing very loudly!

Walter Frye | Global Director of Brand Marketing for Amazon

Executive Committee Member of The Board of The Trevor Project

Walter Frye in a sweater vest and glasses stood in front of an orange backdrop.

In the last year, Frye helped American Express achieve its most
successful Small Business Saturday on record, driving almost $20B
in spend on the day in celebration of its tenth anniversary.

He also forged new brand partnerships with Lizzo, Issa Rae, and
Lupita Nyong’o, and celebrated the opening of The Centurion Lounge
at LAX Airport, which his team designed.

"in the last year" was 2020.

the trevor project's bio on walter is quite dated, and claims he's still the marketing executive for american express. but he's since moved onto amazon, which i (as a queer person) have purchased packages from before and therefor qualifies him for the board of the trevor project

Frye was Vice President of Global Entertainment and
Sports Experiences, where he negotiated and managed
global deals with Live Nation, U.S. Open, Coachella,
Austin City Limits, and Wimbledon.

He’s also led the brand’s partnerships with wide range of
music artists including Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z,
Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift.

IT'S BEYONCÉ. WITH AN ACUTE ACCENT. please have more respect for your "partnerships with wide range of music artists" if you're going to keep just listing their names for mainstream legitimacy

Walter’s awards include a prime-time Emmy for
Outstanding Interactive Video (with Taylor Swift),
Billboard 100 Most Powerful Players in Music,
AdAge 40 Under 40 and the Out100.

DID YOU SEE, TAYLOR SWIFT? SHE'S GAY I'M PRETTY SURE! just be sure not to mention for well over a year that he works for amazon now, and i'm sure the queers'll LOVE IT!

that really is how trevor sees this though, huh?

Exactly As Diverse As Required.

we will get to the c-suite. we will get to peggy.

but this board is the mask peggy puts on to justify trevor's hypercorporatization. the people whose qualifications are all over the place and seem unrelated to their titles, what the fuck even is a "co-vice chair"?

allies, queer folks, and capitalists: so long as you aren't an active bigot, it doesn't matter if the companies you work for are ghoulish. your input is still required to justify the execs' decisions.

trevor has found several 'the queer voice in the room's, from across the infinite expanse of office space that is corporate charity. they advice the executives (did we mention 2 of them are trans???), and- what, be the guiding voice for people who you claim don't need it?

being the one gay person in a room of straight people is not a qualification to run a charity by queer people, for queer people.

but it is for a charity run by straight people, for queer people. it's not like any of us can do math, am i right trevor?

'the people in charge do not need to be queer, because we have enough queers as it is. didn't you look at the chart?' that is the message the trevor project is sending.
