The Matron Amin

The Matron Amin, or Alia to her family and closest friends, is what you could call an imposing woman. While tall, it's not her height alone that enforces such an impression. It's the confidence of someone who was raised to be a ruthless, pragmatic leader of her family- and succeeded at that tremendously. Every business deal and contract signed was for her family, was for a greater good than just herself. The Matron Amin has a legacy to live up to and a literal mansion to fill with life, emotions take a back seat in her life by force of necessity. It's for that reason she might be described as being intense, or focused- to put it politely.

However, despite this it's not all pragmatism and cold calculation with Alia. After a few decades of efficient mercantilism and relative isolation she decided to do something out of character for herself. Something she had not been taught to be. She adopted a particularly keen street child who had caught her attention while on business in Thavnair. What began as an appreciation for the daring of a child turned into a maternal affection given some time. So it was that she had softened up a little and developed a fondness for certain kinds of people by the time she met the displaced refugee who would become her wife.

So it is that she is divided in a sense. The callously efficient leader of a merchant house in one hand. A stern but loving mother, wife and friend in the other. She will surely eventually find a balance in her life. But the pure force of how stubborn she is may make that take longer than it rightfully needs to.
