i enjoyed it well enough, fun Not Zelda with enough of it's own stuff going on. Working Designs being as they were at the time took the liberty of giving all the enemies twice the hp in the english translation version though which makes it a bit of a slog. highly suggest the stat restoration hack if you want to give it a spin.

i owned an original English PS1 copy and had a really good time with it, was actually thinking about replaying it to see how it holds up.
i recall the puzzles were challenging (good if you enjoy puzzles) and some of the platforming being frustrating, but overall a game worth experiencing. give it a shot!
