the Russians and the Chinese have literally nothing to do with my dissatisfaction and distrust in the American political system. i recognize there are disinformation campaigns (foreign and domestic, weird how the foreign ones get talked about way more) but like... for example, Joe Biden is sending Israel weapons every 36 hours. that's not a Russian psyop, that is an American fact. i don't want to support genocide and neither party cares about that. i'm going to vote in my local elections but i would feel disgusting voting for anyone for president. i'm not a rube for sticking to my principles

and i'm not mired in hopelessness and despair or anything just because i don't want to Vote Blue No Matter Who! there is so much hope for change outside of the ballot box. don't ever think we can't make the world a better place—just don't pin all your hopes on politicians

Yeah, "not wanting to vote for democrats means you've fallen victim to propaganda" is also propaganda, there's plenty of other political actions available to you

for me the question is: does voting in the presidential election actually undermine those other political actions? if you are somehow completely off-grid and are using that to plan a political assassination or series of guerilla bombings, absolutely don't register to vote, your plans are way more important. but is that you? or are you just selfishly avoiding discomfort?

Neo-liberalism is a movement that pushes to make politics completely devoid of material consequences in the eyes of citizens. You vote because you are told its good not because you want things to change because politics don't actually effect your life. Its political poison

A friend heard about our intention not to vote because of Biden’s role in the genocide, and gave us a snide “What, do you think the other candidate won’t do the same thing?” And we had to calmly explain that we didn’t give a shit what the other candidate might do. A moral line had been crossed, and we were following our principles by abstaining. Wild how angry folks get when you have a perfectly valid, sincere reason for your political actions!

in reply to @claireitin's post:

I fall into this line of thinking, its pragmatic to vote blue no matter who even if its distasteful, and they are disgusting, because the alternative is so so much worse, and giving them a free hand is death for some entities in this community.

Maybe that makes me a pawn or a sociopath, but i see this very distinctly; with the probabilities being what they are, system what it is, the choice is either status quo with token progressivism, or fascism. The status quo choice is bad, but its a holding pattern against horrors.

The genocide biden is helping is bad, obviously, but trump would do that, and empower a genocide here as well, and thats worse.

it's such a strange liberal thing to prioritize your personal feelings of integrity over even the slight possibility of microscopic relief for marginalized groups. complete ideological incongruency. the thing is: I don't even necessarily disagree with the idea that it doesn't matter, but how politically valuable is your free time that it supersedes even the smallest chance of preventing a hate crime. if Trump lived up to his promises of non-interventionism in his first term, this would be a much more complex discussion, and abstaining would be closer to worthy of consideration, but he didn't. and the idea that he's going to ease up on support of Israel and completely undermine one of his party's main investments is absurd.

My reasons are extremely clear to me why ill vote biden when he is unfortunately the dem nominee (being that he's the incumbent) and its quite simply because if any republican wins the presidency we can expect a wave of anti-queer, anti-trans, anti-women legislation on the federal level, some if my partners will literslly kill themselves before giving up hrt, they cant deal with the dysphoria and they shouldnt have to.

Im not voting for biden, the dems, or any propoganda campaign they have, im voting for my lovers and their continued existence, it feels obvious.

Maybe im wrong because im a cluster b personality haver and have to vibe check with others nearly constantly.
