yeah honestly i think i'm gonna start pushing back against any anti-intellectualism that comes my way. it's getting very tiring seeing people online cry about pretentiousness when they see a 5 dollar word

I have always been of the belief that if you cannot get your point across in simple terms you aren't actually intelligent, however I also don't think that should limit writers in how they write or the words they use when they are writing. Saying someone is using long words for no reason honestly just makes you look dumb.

Chris Franklin's post there only contains $2 dollar words, at most. "Metastasized" is a word you would likely encounter in either medical shows or if a relative had cancer, and none of the other words in that post are even remotely obscure. It's a weird hill to die on to argue that OP's post is some sort of purple prose.

in reply to @Campster's post:

Honestly, to say nothing in regards to the reply, I like the point you're making in the original tweet. I've definitely fallen into the pitfall of "anything I write must fully follow the laws of nature and logic, and if it doesn't, then it must be excised or have a detailed explanation codified into the narrative universe."
...Maybe I ought to just write shit that feels fun and not worry about what other people who likely won't even see the story might have to ask in regards to any seeming irregularities in the fictitious, fantastical world I'm writing about. :eggbug:
