anyway sidenote that last post is the one that broke me in terms of our alt-text editor. i have finally re-prioritized the "make it not suck ass" work item to higher.
as i've said before, the nature of software development, especially of a Live Service with a small team, is a constant struggle of prioritization. there are Many Things to do all the time and only so many hours with which to do them, especially when (as i've also said before) you have Health Issues that can severely impact your availability.
there is also the struggle of prioritizing large features against smaller quicker things. colin is working on 2fa, which is a fuckin bear of a feature that required complete changing How Login Works internally1. could he have spent that time doing multiple small things? yep! would that be a good idea? unsure! probably not! there are actual costs and opportunity costs involved in every single decision we make and, while we are getting better at it, that sort of prioritization is Fucking Hard.
thanks everyone for continuing to be patient as we keep working on making cohost better.

the good news is this work allows us to do Other Things, like giving a good baseline for API auth and adding support for Passkeys / other forms of passwordless login, but it's also a lot of work
