I don't have any specific plans but I'm gonna bring it with me to FWA. If there's an open space with other artists farting around I will probably bring it out and make something!
Prioritizing your network connections by setting the metrics appropriately will JUST ABOUT let you get away with leaving cellular turned on all the time without sending more than a few packets on it occasionally instead of using WiFi, but if you want to have genuinely zero traffic on cellular while your WiFi is active then you will need a more complicated solution.
What that is, I do not know, but I'm stubborn so I want to find out how this is supposed to work instead of just giving up and using NetworkManager.
Update: the application that was leaking data was Syncthing, it was sending local discovery packets over the cellular interface which should never succeed and just wastes metered traffic when it should really be sitting idle. I blocked the port on that interface and it's fine now!
